Easy at home summer highlights

Easy at home summer highlights

Something you probably notice after every summer holiday is that your hair will be a few shades lighter. These natural highlights make your tan look better and create a beautiful, breezy summer look

If you want to step up your highlight game, or if you’re not getting a chance to let the sun do all the dirty work, try out these easy ways to lighten your hair.

Chamomile tea

Honestly, what isn’t tea good for? To lighten your hair with chamomile tea make a strong brew with about four tea bags. Make enough to soak all of your hair in or make just enough to wet a couple of strands to create highlights. Leave the tea to cool off and pour it over your hair above a sink. You can use a cotton ball to apply the tea to only a few selected parts of your hair. Now find a nice place to sit in the sun and let your hair dry. As the sun dries your hair it will lighten up.

Lemon juice

This method is a bit more intense and can dry out your hair so be very careful and have a hydrating conditioner at hand. Take one or two lemons and squeeze the juice out. Don’t use lemon juice from a bottle as additives in the juice can damage your hair. Mix the juice with an equal part of water in a spray bottle and apply to your hair. Again, you can apply all over your hair or just selected areas, the more you apply the lighter your hair will get. Now let your hair dry in the sun for about 30 minutes. Wash your hair to get rid of the remaining juice and apply conditioner to perk your hair right back up.
