Karigam catwalk show report for NYFW S/S 2016
As New Yorkers wait for the weather to cool off, fashionistas from all over the world crowd the streets ready for the heat. The first Friday of this years fashion week has kicked off with plenty of jaw-dropping shows all over the city. Right near the west side highway at The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Square, Karigam Spring/Summer2016 made its NYFW debut with seats filled with excited attendees along with singer/fashion designer Solange and actress Jamie Chung.
Venezuelan native Karina Gamez founded Karigam in 2014. With a background in business and finance, Gamez has been able to lead her brand straight to the top. With architectural inspirations all throughout her designs, Karigam is a brand that is designed for the modern woman. Linear cuts in most pieces draw relations to cityscapes where the working woman takes over. The use of black and white along with monochromatic colors add on to the sophistication that is present all throughout every piece of the collection.
With various combinations of satin, leather and mesh, Gamez uniquely creates ready to wear pieces appropriate for work as well as a night out. The first model to walk down the catwalk wore all white shorts layered with a long flowing coat. The architectural inspirations were further present in the various asymmetric tops and drape front pants. High-neck sleeveless tops with simple zippers and leather lining further added to the modern business woman the brand is set on representing. Gamez also featured mesh layered dresses in rose and white adding a flirty feel to the ensemble.
Karigam’s bold-but-simple looks are sure to be found worn this upcoming Spring/Summer on women all over. Gamez has made her mark in this year’s NYFW and is expected to continue dressing the modern woman ready to take over the world.
