Markus Lupfer collection presentation for LFW S/S 2016
Wandering into Markus Lupfer’s London Fashion Week venue, on the historic Horse Guards Avenue, we were confronted by a Mexican wilderness complete with a backdrop of beautiful flowers – a far cry from the bustling catwalk shows in Soho.
The idea of endless arid landscapes, interrupted by lush nature, created overlapping light and dark themes, which focused on intricate craftsmanship and luxe fabrication.
Signature Lupfer traits were instantly visible: lashings of embellishments and geometric prints, emblazoned bomber jackets, dainty party dresses and laidback separates. The palette was mostly monochrome, with doses of powder pink, creating a feminine collection with a humorous and fun dimension.
Clean A-line shapes played canvas to the flora and fauna of dry climates, with cacti woven in sheer fil coupé. Rich florals appeared throughout, in prints featuring graphic flowers over stripes, embroidered on sheer organza, and a 3D sequin appliqué resembling a blooming desert – also echoed in footwear decoration.
