Freemasons’ Hall was the venue for Zeynep Kartal’s SS16 captivating catwalk collection; inspired by iconic women and the many facets required to establish oneself within modern society.
References were made to the formal dress of historical figures, from royalty to Hollywood legends, as well as that of modern-day leading ladies. Decidedly feminine silhouettes dominated throughout, across strapless, caped pencil dresses, voluminous trousers paired with corseted bustier tops and Tuxedo-inspired skirts, providing a versatile day-to-evening look.
Signature gowns came in a variety of complementary styles, from full skirt debutant affairs to demure, sophisticated column dresses. The finest natural fabrics were utilised – silk, transparent crêpe, organza and handmade lace – with emphasis on clean cuts and elegant embellishment, including embroidery and sequin appliqués.
A classically regal colour palette of coral red and navy was balanced with antique cream and white hues. Simple nude and black heels completed the looks, allowing the garments to command the attention of the audience.
