Miuniku collection presentation for LFW S/S 2016
Miuniku is a label that takes pride in its elegant, contemporary designs and international appeal. Despite being relatively new on the block, the Mumbai-based label is already proving popular with the fashion set, with founders and sisters Tina and Nikita having received a number of prestigious awards and recognitions over the past few years.
Entitled Before the Digital Age, this collection looked at a version of the future as imagined by some past age. Simple silhouettes with boxy jackets and oversized coats became the focus of many of the looks, paired with structured knee-length skirts or ankle-grazing pants.
What really bought the designs to life was the clean yet striking combination of colours and textures: a wrap-around skirt in blue, yellow, white and red contrasted the green and lilac-striped jumper with which it was paired. Elsewhere, an asymmetrically panelled velvet jumper in scarlet and cobalt was tucked into a black and yellow skirt, its pocket lined with bright red fabric.
The shoes were a particular stand-out. There were mirrored silver loafers, effortlessly chic and edgy, along with impossibly shiny black ankle boots, both of which matched the shimmering silver, geometric buttons that appeared up skirts and the silver “HITMIX” logo appliquéd on to jackets and shirts.
A striking set of clothes that linked a past view of the future in with the styles of the present; it seems that Miuniku’s popularity is well-deserved.
