Apple and Hermès reveal collaboration
On 9th September Apple introduced the Apple Watch® Hermès, a new collection showcasing technology, ergonomics and style in stainless steel and leather. Both established brands and leaders in their own field, Hermès’ quality craftsmanship combines perfectly with Apple’s approach to technology in delivering a highly aesthetic and functional product.
“Apple and Hermès make very different products, but they reflect the deep appreciation of quality design,” said Jonathan Ive, Apple’s chief design officer. “Both companies are motivated by a sincere pursuit of excellence and the desire to create something that is not compromised. Apple Watch Hermès is a true testament new to that belief.”
The collection comprises three individual styles: the Single Tour, the Double Tour and the Cuff. The typeface on the watch can be customised to the Hermès distinctive orange shade, tying in with the inscription of Hermès signature on each piece. The straps are made from Parisian crafted Barenia leather – the brand’s own line which features across its other products. The face can also be customised with three exclusive dial designs inspired by Clipper, Cape Cod and Espace Hermès watches.
So what differs between the three styles in the series?
The Single Tour: 38 or 42 mm stainless steel case pairs with fauve Barenia leather, noir box leather and capucine Swift leather.
The Double Tour: 38 mm stainless steel case, in fauve Barenia leather and bleu jean, capucine and etain Swift leather.
The Cuff: 42 mm stainless steel case with fauve Barenia leather only.
The series is available for purchase from 5th October at selected Apple retail stores, select Hermès stores, speciality stores and department stores.
