Avocado beauty hacks
Avocado has been super food number one for years now and if you haven’t jumped on the avocado band wagon you are seriously missing out. Apart from the fact that avocado is absolute, creamy, deliciousness (it’s known as the bacon among fruit), it has been ascribed numerous health benefits. The nutritional values of avocados are amazing – from vitamins to fibre to potassium, it has it all in insane amounts. So how can you incorporate avocados in your beauty regime? Start by trying our avocado beauty below.
DIY avocado masks
If you’ve ever peeled or diced an avocado you may have noticed that your hands were incredibly soft afterwards. Avocados are rich in oils, which make it great for hydrating and nourishing your skin and hair. If you ever have some leftover avocados lying around and you don’t feel like guacamole (unlikely), try mashing it and apply it anywhere. Your hands, hair, face, tummy, elbows, and anywhere you want to treat your body to some well-deserved pampering. Avocados work great on their own but they also make for a great mask base. Simply add honey, oatmeal or whatever your skin craves.
Avocado beauty products
Because of its great health and beauty benefits many brands already incorporate avocados in their products. For instance Giovanni has a whole product line with an avocado and olive oil base for hair. But also think of Bobbi Brown’s Beach Body Oil, a fragranced moisturiser containing four essential oils, including avocado, and OPI’s Avoplex Nail & Cuticle Replenishing Oil, perfect for an at-home manicure.
Make-up remover
One final mini-hack: avocado as a make-up remover. Again, this is all to do with the magical oils that hide away in avocados. This hack couldn’t be easier. All you need is a cotton bud to swipe over the flesh of an avocado and use that to clear away the makeup around your eyes. Keeping in mind that avocados are incredibly hydrating, rub the oil into the skin under your eyes to give it a little nourishing treat.
