Rebecca Minkoff spring/summer 2016 collection catwalk show for NYFW
Welcoming the soon-to-come spring breeze rather than anticipating the autumn/winter, Rebecca Minkoff used many ripples and tea rose pink to flow down the runway. And if the catwalk was not enough excitement, Zella Day performed live with her other band members as they provided the music for all of the scenes and transitions.
A leather button-up skirt matched with a sheer semi-turtle neck. Other leather jackets hung from the shoulders of the models to form a delicate periwinkle blouse and the large bow at the neck. Minkoff carefully designed certain metal buttons and metallic fixtures to dangle from the strings of various garments.
In light of the “see, buy, wear” thread of the show, the hand bags seemed to have been designed to go with just about any outfit: casual wear, business and formal, daytime and evening etc. and varied from off white backpacks, clutch bags, to purses with chains.
There was a range in her lightweight spring dresses as well. For instance, one casual lose-fitting gown underneath a white leather coat could have easily been worn to a family gathering or business dinner party. Additionally, she brings back maxi dresses but with three different-sized flowers – large designs on the torso, medium on the thighs, and tiny in the chest area as they alternate.
Minkoff also used suede ankle boots to balance the patterned dresses – various stripes of peach, lavender, and tan – as well as the solid navy blue and flower ones. The design of the patterned dress reappeared in other skirts especially paired with a gray blazer and tan satchel.
Rebecca Minkoff observes how casual her buyers and supporters are in keeping their fashion interest in mind when constructing this new spring collection.
