Naeem Khan’s collection was captivating from beginning to end. This season, Khan was inspired by the art deco architecture of New York. However, there were moments it felt more like New York in the 1920s. The beaded fringe cocktail dresses, gun metal gowns, and rich baroque and appliqué capes were reminiscent of a night out at Carnegie Hall.
There were too many red carpet show stoppers to count. The gold section, from the Cinderella ballroom gowns to the full length illusion dresses must get an honourable mention, and Khan’s collection was dripping in mixed metals.
The Oscars are approaching and to any person be damned who has to follow up after the actress in one of his designs. His reference to New York’s heavy steal architecture was also translated successfully.
For the finale, the models stood in a two line formation, as the designer escorted a recipient from the Make-A-Wish foundation to walk in a dress he designed himself.
