Markus Lupfer autumn/winter 2016 collection presentation for LFW
“The Markus Lupfer woman never sleeps,” apparently, and in his latest collection Lupfer himself presents a selection of looks to cater for her 24-hour lifestyle in the most sophisticated way possible.
The real magic of this romantic collection is in the details – stunning hand-embroidery and sparkling beaded additions bring the rich palette of aubergine, forest green and pink to vivid life. Metallic pleated skirts and shimmering viscose-crêpe dresses evoke a wistfully bohemian glam-rock sensibility that feels ideal for an elegant evening, whilst a black seventies smock dress acts as a desk-to-party staple.
Cable knits and sumptuously soft merino wool jumpers are given the glam treatment with scatterings of sequins. In one case, pink opal beads arrange themselves in an argyle pattern on a camel-hued base, putting an appealingly decadent twist on a cosy classic.
Even the heavy outerwear pieces feel somehow luxurious, with chunky capes finding a balance with the cropped shearling and riveted black leather jackets.
This season, accessories are a particular highlight for Markus Lupfer. The handbag collection, which made its debut as part of the designer’s pre-fall range, is this season characterised by studded and embellished leather totes and cross-body bags. When paired with the star-speckled and flower-embroidered boots, the overall look is one of fun, vintage decadence.
