Temperley London autumn/winter 2016 collection catwalk show for LFW
Alice Temperley took a cue from pirates, mermaids and nymphs for her autumn/winter 2016 collection, resulting in an enthralling line-up of ultra-feminine dresses, embroidered capes and military-style jackets.
Fluid movement and lightness were highlighted in evening gowns adorned with sequins and tiered dresses featuring intricate sheer elements, whilst wrap dresses with revealing slits were paired with studded ankle boots to toughen up their exterior. Corduroy suiting included a cropped jacket with embroidered trim, worn with high-waisted trousers, an exaggerated ruffle blouse and velvet boots.
Floral prints appeared in a variety of forms: blooms on jacquards, magnified on floor-length dresses and ditsy on scarves. Nautical prints were also a recurring theme, with symmetrical versions particularly noteworthy in colourways comprising white, lilac, lime and sky blue.
Outwear was produced in wool and cashmere with a strong military feel – often with appliqués on sleeves and backs. Capes were fastened with gloriously large silk bows, which were echoed on a number of garments.
A handful of bridal looks rounded up the collection. Continuing the floaty feminine silhouettes, they included white chiffon and wrap gowns with hand-sewn embellishments, gracefully completed with delicate jewellery.
