Charlotte Tilbury creates celebrity lipstick line for charity

For years, Charlotte Tilbury – make-up artist to the stars – has created custom products and designed unique looks for some of her most high-profile clients. However, her latest venture sees her taking her phenomenally popular line to a whole new level with 12 new lipsticks, each inspired and supported by a different celebrity.

Stars involved in Tilbury’s Hot Lips line include Cindy Crawford, Salma Hayek, Emily Ratajkowski, Helena Bonham-Carter and – in her first lipstick collaboration ever – Kim Kardashian-West. Each lipstick has been created to suit each woman’s individual personality and make-up preferences, and then named after the person who inspired the design.

And the best part of this impressive new range? Part of the proceeds from the sale of each lipstick in the Hot Lips collection will be donated to the charity Women for Women international (WfWI), and Tilbury will be sponsoring 12 women involved in the charity on behalf of each of her 12 celeb pals.

The work of the WfWI is clearly something that Tilbury feels very strongly about. Brita Fernandez Schmidt, the executive director of the charity, explained how she and Tilbury connected over certain issues during their first meeting. Both agreed that women who have experienced immense trauma need to find their confidence once more, and not be left after the resources and medical aid have gone.

“When Women For Women was working in Bosnia 20 years ago, where it’s estimated that 50,000 women were raped during the conflict, we did all we could think of to help and then asked the woman if there was anything else at all we could bring them. They said lipstick,” Fernandez Schmidt explains. “Women said they wanted the snipers to know they were killing a beautiful woman. That’s why this partnership is so perfect, and Charlotte’s passion for the project is so wonderful and so real.”

As well as the monetary donation, Tilbury and her collaborators will also be using the hashtag #lipstickconfidence to coincide with the July launch, and raise awareness across social media.

Giving to charity by buying a lipstick? Sounds like a plan. However, everyone must have had the same idea, because there’s already a waiting list of people waiting to get their hands on one of the covetable lipsticks. Clearly this charitable line is going to be big beauty news this season.
