Tiffany & Co hires Grace Coddington

Grace Coddington is a new Creative Partner of Tiffany & Co, it was announced earlier this week.

When her position at American Vogue changed from creative director to creative director at large back in January, Coddington promised that she would be taking on a variety of new and exciting projects. So far, she has not disappointed, having launched her own website as well as a fragrance in collaboration with Comme de Garçons.

This latest creative pairing is an exciting one for both parties. This is the first time that the iconic jewellery designer has employed someone outside of the brand in this role, and Coddington (with her hordes of experience and fashionable contacts) seems to be just the person to inject the legendary brand with a shot of modernity. Although precise details have not yet been revealed, she has apparently already lined up a star-studded cast for their autumn campaign, which is being produced now in New York to air both in print and online in September.

“Tiffany – and its famed Blue Box – has always held special meaning for me,” Coddington said of her new partners. “To me, this is not just an ad campaign, but an opportunity to portray a legendary house of luxury through modern portraits of uniquely talented subjects. Each perfectly reflects, in her own way, Tiffany’s most iconic collections.”

Although it remains to be seen exactly who those “uniquely talented subjects” are, with Grace Coddington in charge, there is no doubt that there will be some big and upcoming names in the mix – the start of something new at Tiffany & Co, perhaps.
