5:31 Jerome spring/summer 2017 collection presentation for NYFW
The Futuristic Family Portrait collection, as quoted from designer Jerome, was presented this afternoon on the Deck of Pier 59, overlooking the Hudson river. The decor of planted palm trees, cozy couches and a rooftop vide radiated the epitome of tropics meets Manhattan Chic.
The crowd drawn to the spring/summer collection were dressed as chic as the clothes presented. From street style ripped jeans, to upscale Gucci ensembles, and one of a kind looks, the crowd was very fashion forward. Onto the deck, the models stood together posing for the flashing cameras, professional and cellphones in the blazing heat.
The collection drew inspiration from iridescent pastel colours portrayed from head to toe. The textiles of destroyed knit, deconstructed denim, fluffy fur were huge players throughout and deemed for a street style, urban meets light and airy feel to the collection. Femininity meets modern was also styled through the silhouettes.
Jerome made an impeccable clothing collection for men and women, but truly shined with his handmade accessories. Pearl and seashell studded birkenstocks made not only a statement but are on the lust list for everyone who attended the show. Jerome not only just studded slip-ons but also created a wedge heel on one pair. Comfort meets high fashion.
Each look was unique but made for a very cohesive collection. He did not skip on the use of hand embroidery, which was seen on jeans, tops, jackets and a handmade purse. One would not traditionally think of seashells, varsity style patches, fur and hand embroidered flowers as a good mix, but it was done to a couture level.
The lucky models to wear a hat in the beaming down sun, looked ever so chic with the hand-painted details. Other models were adorned with at first glance ram horn looking hoop earrings, but at second glance they are connected to create an interesting headphone-esque accessory.
The mix of materials, refined use of many accessories proved for an interesting afternoon. It provided a refreshing new outlook for warmer weather and an upcoming high credit card bill. Jerome played nothing safe and gave us all a reason to countdown to spring.
