Naeem Khan spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for NYFW
On 14th September Naeem Khan gathered editors, bloggers and style influencers at Moynihan Station’s Skylight for his spring/summer 2017 show. The show featured light beats reminiscent of balmy Paris nights, and the sophisticated glamour emerged with colour blocking of red, black and whites.
Spring 2017 was in dedication to his mentor, Halston, whom he worked for when he moved from India to the United States in 1978. During his time there, he concentrated on the art of draping, construction of delicate garments and being indispensable in the industry.
The collection is overall vibrant in colour and texture, inspired by Khan’s love for cooking as for him “taste has colour”. Colourful laces, embroidery, glass fridge and painted prints all made an appearance, softly flowing down the catwalk. All pieces are hand assembled, and the show was dedicated to “the effortlessly confined woman”.
The models glossy locks were softly flowing with hair by Jeanie SYFU for Tressemme, and makeup was chic and understated by Gato for Maybelline New York. Shoes were provided by French genius Christian Louboutin.
A red-carpet and celeb favourite, Naeem Khan’s designs have been seen on Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Penélope Cruz, Katy Perry and Kate Hudson, among others. He is also loved by first lady Michelle Obama as well as the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.
