Pam Hogg spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for LFW
Legendary designer of rockstar status, Pam Hogg and her SS17 collection were received by an overflowing Freemasons’ Hall on Friday night.
Topped and tailed with a series of Hogg’s renowned catsuits, the show pivoted around Hogg’s own appearance halfway through. Hogg strolled onto the catwalk in head-to-toe gold, comprising a tracksuit set and gilt-edged sunglasses, cane in hand ready to point to friends in the front row in a cheerful greeting. From this moment onwards, until the final minutes, catsuits were joined by full skirted dresses adorned with the same colourful, cartoon paint splatter pattern. One duck egg blue, puff sleeved dress was the conservative exception to a stream of otherwise backless halter neck designs. Indeed, extremes in volume and style seemed to be the focus of Hogg’s efforts this season; contrast the skin tight bodysuits with the ’50s prom skirt, the conservative puff-sleeves dress with the almost entirely transparent catsuit. Hogg has never shied away from shocking the industry with her innovation. Whilst the aim of her show this evening may not have been to shock, it was nonetheless an wonderful celebration of a trailblazing female icon of the fashion industry and proof that her work continues to draw the same acclaim (and crowds) that it did when her career first hit the scene.
