PPQ spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for LFW
Combine a love of tradition with a penchant for contemporary chic, and the result is PPQ’s Spring 2017 collection. With a title like “La Fiesta,” you can probably guess where the designers looked for their inspiration this season – Northern Spain, and the history of an ancient, ceremonial kingdom in the region of Navarra. The vibrant jubilance of a Spanish fiesta permeated the entire collection; blouson blouses and tiered skirts glowed in fuchsia, lime and scarlet, whilst pastel-coloured taffeta scarves were wrapped around the hair or the waist for a hint of retro Mediterranean chic.A distinctive print featuring traditional “Roncaleses” dancers spin across chiffon gowns and trousers – another link to Spain and Spanish rituals. Elsewhere, indigenous flowers bloomed across day coats, shirts and dresses, their silhouettes floating and breezy – perfect for a summer day. Woven basket bags swung nonchalantly from the hands of some models, whilst fans flicked in the hands of others. In jet black to contrast the vibrancy of the colour palette, a square of fabric bearing the words “La Fiesta” was tied at the neck as a cape, or perhaps around the waist as another layer. A high octane, joyful set of clothes perfectly suited to a sophisticated celebration on a hot Spanish evening.
