Ryan Lo spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for LFW
Ryan Lo loves all things dreamy, so it’s no wonder his spring summer collection embraced his consistent theme of romantic fantasy, delving into current pop culture and childhood nostalgia in the form of old Japanese cartoon character prints and genie bottles on several of his pieces.
This spring/summer, Lo’s traveller ditches her girliness and instead, embraces oversized harem trousers inspired by Venetian clowns and 18th century Ottoman Empire attire, accompanied with her signature ruffled and tiered dresses in lace and frayed floral jacquard – closely resembling a treasured, well-used magic carpet.Lo successfully unites cultures and countries together, before almost candy-coating them together in order to merge the gaps between all – on this occasion, the audience took a round trip across Turkey, Egypt and India seamlessly.Having taught himself how to knit via a YouTube tutorial, Lo’s unconventional DIY approach is no doubt what contributes to the unique and unexpected outcome of each and every collection.
