Roberts I Wood spring/summer 2017 collection presentation for LFW
London-based designer Roberts | Wood presented an ethereal, almost hypnotic presentation this morning in the Institute of Contemporary Arts. A largely monochrome palette with the merest whisper of pale peach and navy, the show struck the perfect balance between the timeless and the avant-garde.The designs ranged from the minimal and the structured, to the airy and the ruffled. Bold, sculpted black and white separates were layered together; an oversized black bib hanging over a white shirt and trouser combo, a black skirt wrapped over trousers, a dress tied at the waist over a contrasting t-shirt. Elsewhere, clean and minimal designs were infused with a certain flare by clever detailing; an oversized bow tied at the arm of a voluminous white shirt dress, for example.
At the other end of the spectrum, the designer offered a series of sensual, romantic pieces centred around sheer fabrics and oversized ruffles. A strappy, navy dress comprising entirely of tulle tufts on a sheer slip offered a daringly teasing view of the body beneath. Meanwhile, a sheer peach jumpsuit left the body completely exposed, whilst giant folds of fabric along the arms and legs created a striking silhouette. Somewhere in between the structured and the translucent, there were wearable monochrome dresses with sheer overlays at the skirt and neckline. It was stylish, romantic presentation from the designer – one that offered something for every taste.
