Vin + Omi spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for LFW
VIN + OMI’s SS17 collection titled ‘The Dreaming’, certainly had a dark fairytale vibe to it. The catwalk was dimmed with dark red lighting and black origami birds hung everywhere from the ceiling giving a fantasy ambience to the Congress Centre.
The female models wore oversized fluffy wigs of white, red and black with paintbrushes and paint palettes decoratively placed within them. Coupled with the floaty, wipsy material used for the designs, this added to the etheral feel of the whole show. The outfits were accessorized with slogan necklaces and badges stating ‘enough’ and ‘ban guns’ signs.A recurring theme throughout seemed to be bold, graphic prints, which added a playful element to the elegant shapes of the dresses. The designs included black leggings adorned with prints of muscular male body parts and floor length silver dresses with dark graphic floral prints paired with floral platform heels. The models walked extremely slowly which added to the dreamlike quality of the whole collection. It also allowed the audience to appreciate the incredible detail of the designs; the elegant use of drapery and ruffles used to create texture.Known for mixing celebrity models in with their regular line up, this season they cast a really diverse range of talent. This included radio’s Jo Whiley, actress Julia Swahala, tv presenter Grace Woodward and other notable faces. However these famous faces were mostly unrecognisable underneath the huge wigs.
The show was closed by double olympic gold medal winner, Nicola Adams MBE who walked the runway dressed in a graphic printed white suit to tumultuous applause from the crowd.
