Harrys of London autumn/winter 2017 collection presentation for LFWM
From the minute one ventured down into the RSA space to view the Harrys of London footwear and accessories collection for London Fashion Week Men’s, it really was like walking into a living manifestation of a man’s world.
Starting off with a city-chic shoe collection, clustered around a grandly lit billiard table complete with potted-ball sound effects were elegant leather lace-ups, loafers and boots fit for business meetings-come-post-work pleasure outings.
Next up was the bedroom. Suede and patent shoes, new loafers/slippers with collapsible backs and luxurious socks tumbled out of a suitcase atop a fur bed spread. Weekend bags in tech carbon fibre, heron stamped belts and shoes were scattered amongst a Rolling Stones themed pinball machine and punching bag, while a half drunk bottle of liquor, part-smoked cigarettes and a Durex wrapper lingered on the bedside table.
In transit between this room and the next: travel gear in vibrant reds, electric blues and uber-durable materials; new H-Cube logo shoes and matching belts; and fur trim fabric boots.
Then finally, the boy’s toys room, brimming with trainers centred around a scalextric-esque racing track overlooked by men in racing jumpsuits and caps. Leather-detail high tops, pumps in blue, grey and green camo-print, skater-style trainers with woven details and leather slip-ons with a bolt of colour running through the body and sole – a treasure trove for the trainer-loving man.
What stood out from the display was the distinctive sporty-futuristic aesthetic the brand has developed, through exploiting technological advances in its choice of fabrics and creating understated yet ambitious designs, encompassed in the I-need-to-own-you Skydive backpack made in solid Tech leather. It is also clear that quality and comfort are as key considerations as the aesthetic, such as in the 3D innersole developed in partnership with Technogel provided in their shoes.
The Harrys of London autumn/winter 2017 presentation went all out to provide something for the modern day man in all his guises – a fun, exuberant, street-meets-chic collection.
