Calvin Klein autumn/winter 2017 collection catwalk show for NYFW
In midst of a swirling Manhattan snowfall, Calvin Klein revealed yet another bold collection to a full-house audience. The show featured an array of bold yet simple colors that contrasted with the sleek silver of the runway. With little use of patterns, Klein showcased in strength the dramatic style he’s known for. Feathers, plastic and plaid all held a spot on the runway during the show, enveloping the fashion crows in his intricately unique designs.
Right from the start, Klein proved his boldness through an uncommon pairing of fabrics. The plastic drapery slicker flowed effortlessly over a deep marigold, knee-length silk jacket, with its metallic belt loosely tied. The extra length of the synthetic sleeves and hem allowed for a perfect sculpting of the underlay.
Another noteworthy look at the forefront of the collection was a transparent dress paired with orange triangle shoes. The ethereal transparency mixed with the bold geometrics of the shoe created a statement appeal. The delicate design layering the bottom hem added just the right amount of drama to the simple look. This piece allows its wearer to share not only the uniqueness of the gown, but also of their body as it shines through the forefront beneath its transparency.
Later in the show, dark denim was introduced to break up the strong colors. The denim on denim paid homage to the hot new trend, and the simple white turtle neck resulted in timeless, classy appeal. The long-sleeved top tucked into the wide-legged pants created a head-to-toe masterpiece.
These were just three of many new looks Calvin Klein debuted today at New York Fashion Week. From celestial to classic beauty, his new collection holds the timeless variety we’ve come to expect from the designer.
