J Crew autumn/winter 2017 collection presentation for NYFW
J Crew has been making men, women and children clothes since 1983. It is one of the few brands which, while keeping up with modern tendencies, still thinks that old school is cool. Its clothes are oriented to your everyday citizen with a modern twist. It is diverse enough to be worn to work, college, playdate – or a cocktail party.
Today J Crew showed its autumn/winter 2017 collection comprised of 62 looks: 34 women’s and 28 men’s. Unlike a typical presentation, the outfits were presented by friends of the brand – moms, dads, sisters, aspiring designers, lawyers, students, writers and more – to celebrate the personal style that customers bring to the brand and contribute to its uniqueness.
As usual, classic, old school pieces such as the rugby shirt, rollback, the tweed and plaids were skillfully mixed with modern day must haves: bomber camouflage jacket, cold-shoulder sweater, tulle-covered silhouettes and vibrant colors of red, purple and green.
Fur accessories such as oversized shawls and clutches, large statementearrings, rings and bracelets were used to add freshness and some extravagant touch. Most of the materials used in the collection are cotton, wool and silk. J Crew also stays loyal to its use of embroidery seen from season to season.
Men collection was presented by some classics made of corduroy, and woodland animals on ties and shirts combined with athletic wear and wide-leg pants for revampedlook. Overall, the atmosphere at the presentation was light, cozy and relaxed: exactly the message the brand sends to its customers which makes it so relatable and highly desired.
