Eudon Choi continues to demonstrate his knack for tailoring and his ability to translate his background in menswear into womenswear for his autumn/winter 2017 collection.
The opening featured monochromatic looks: crisp cotton shirts peeking under and over an assortment of grey wide-leg trousers, a blazer and a smock dress.
A transition into khaki, cornflower blue and orange brought together the oversized dressing mentality.
Somehow, the relaxed sizing was met by sharp sharp, clean tailoring – the shaping and the splits brought movement and life to each piece.
Adding a soft touch of femininity were sleek, slinky satin shift dresses and blouses in navy and khaki, draping effortlessly off of the model. A satin slip dress was enveloped by a mauve cape, but this exquisite gesture was well balanced by the choice of shoe: each look was paired white or pale coral trainers.
D-rings clinging to loosely trailing straps added movement to duster coats and jackets – as seen in his previous work, this has now become a part of Choi’s signature aesthetic. Chunky-knit jumpers draped over the shoulders and puffer jackets worn on only one half of the body sounds nonchalant, but it was far from a lazy idea; Choi has a knack for making each and every component seem oh so deliberate, calculated and well thought-out.
