Mostly comprised of form-fitting gowns, the Kolchagov Barba show was a wardrobe made for a confident, striking woman. With only hints of silver detail here and there, it was an all-black collection, referencing the highly sought-after black coral. The garments had regal details such as jewel embellishment, silver emblazement and Victorian style collars.
Made up of beautifully detailed garments, from blazer to ball gowns to palazzo trousers, the focus of this show was on the texture of the clothing. With an array of lace dresses, translucent panel tops, black jewel detailing, fringing and silver belts, the show proceeded smoothly and every outfit made sense. The clientele of the collection was clear to the viewer from the first glance.
There was a stark and almost melancholy feel at the show. The models were in dark eye make-up and had plum-coloured lips, which added to the mysterious nature, as if the girls had acquired one of the treasured black corals. They weren’t showy however; instead presented a dramatic, opulent kind of beauty.
