Ceci autumn/winter 2017 collection catwalk show for LFW
Ceci’s autumn/winter 2017 catwalk show opened with a sea of silk flowing across the human form, giving a liquid fluidity to the wearer that was reminiscent of sand dunes and oceans.
Influenced on the whole by the stateless vagabond, the collection aimed to compliment the romance of their relationship with the Earth. Draped fabrics emulated the free-spirited nomad, depicting the silhouettes of shelters drawn across the body by rich fabrics.
Dropping the uniformity of the modern world, Ceci epitomised simplicity through by adopting oversized and flowing shapes. Using clean lines and folds to create contours and shape these lazy figures, the collection emphasised a life with no constraints – instead reinforcing our connection with Earth.
A juxtaposition of fabrics varying from the rough material of denim and wool blends to creamy velvet and fur featured throughout the collection, emphasising the unpredictable spirit of nature.
Blue and white fringing permeated coats and drapes adding a wave-like movement to the edges of materials. This motif was carried through the collection with prints conjuring images of waves also presented on outwear.
A soft colour palette of warm burgundy, dusty black and ocean blue was cohesive throughout, tying the wearer to nature. Ceci succeeded in converting the catwalk into a fluent, natural transformation for the spirited soul.
