Markus Lupfer autumn/winter 2017 collection presentation for LFW
The playful animal motifs that have become synonymous with Markus Lupfer conveyed a chillier feel for autumn/winter 2017. Eclectic and liberating, this collection was designed with adversity in mind. Clever layering and exaggerated outwear were complemented brilliantly by bold accessories, creating a distinctive yet wearable aesthetic that continued throughout.
At one end of the presentation space, models were wearing feminine, fluid blouses toughened up with menswear-inspired tailored skirts, while at the other, zodiac-embroidered knitwear and space-age leggings took centre stage. A winter-appropriate colour palette incorporated shades of navy, black and cream, with emerald, metallic silver and power blue bringing pieces to life.
Models’ waists were frequently highlighted with sporty waist bands and chunky rope belts tied in slip knots. Bumbags and backpacks featured playful hand-drawn penguin and polar bear motifs, which worked especially well when worn with coloured Perspex sunglasses and statement earrings.
An oversized shearling coat, featuring delicate appliqué flowers, was worn over a printed shirt and checked trousers, ready to brave any snow storm in style. Elsewhere, bold and subtle winter florals – with occasional ornamentation – garnished A-line skirts, ruffled shirts and long dresses, giving these classic silhouettes a fresh look.
An assortment of fringed mules and boots, paired with embellished socks, completed outfits while adding to the Nordic feel of the collection.
