Fashion Forward: Lama Jouni autumn/winter 2017 collection catwalk show for LFW
Lama Jouni AW17 was a classic collection with an intriguing background story. It derived from Lebanon and how the French colonisation created a cultural change there, how the tragedy can be seen in a positive light.
The French effect was seen throughout the collection in the classic tailoring, french words like “Liberté!” printed on the tees and the nonchalance of the looks, dominated by black. The collection included black trenchcoats, flowing trousers, low cut jumpsuits, pale mint dresses, ruffled tops and dresses, bombers and blazers and gowns with floral trimming.
The combination of high and low brow was seen clearly here, and elements from both were combined together to create something unique.
The mainly black collection was contrasted by pale mint green, white and blood red as well as a floral embroidery motif. Through crepe satin, silk nylon and lurex the collection has a minimalist charm and a sense of wearability. Movement is important to the collection because of the free flowing hems and trousers.
The collection prevailed because of the strong concept behind it, and the close connection and passion to it by the designer Lama Jouni. Even though this was only her debut, it seems like she is here to stay.
