J JS Lee’s autumn/winter 2017 collection experimented with proportion using a mixture of masculine and feminine silhouettes. Inspired by children’s rite of passage and their urge to explore identity through dressing up, this collection is synonymous with the designer’s signature androgynous style.
Following the theme of size and scale, smart tailoring featured drop shoulders and elongated lapels, while pockets and buttons sat high or low on coats. Elsewhere, a variety of trouser shapes and mid-length skirts, created in check and Melton wool, included exaggerated belt loop detailing, adding interest to each piece.
Garments were generally loose-fitting and minimal with occasional feminine detailing. Ties and drawstring hems gently cinched in voluminous styles as relaxed knitwear draped effortlessly over wearers. Brushed mohair was layered over crisp cotton poplin shirts and dresses providing a nod towards the cooler climate.
Models accessorised with stylish leather bags and ankle boots incorporating covered chain hardwear.
