Phoebe English Man spring/summer 2018 collection presentation for LFWM
Utilitarian was the first theme that came to mind at the Phoebe English Man presentation this season. The back to basics collection had an oversized, unstructured-structure about it, where the clothes fell in an effortless, yet precise, fashion.
Doing what she does best, English stripped this collection down to the bare essentials, taking it back to nature using raw fibres. Models were put to good use, crafting handmade pottery, celebrating the clothing’s suitability for both form and function. Collarless shirt dresses, bomber jackets, and trench coats served as aprons for their troubles, whilst nonchalant cotton rucksacks adorned shoulders.
The idea of the simple working man was an inescapable theme, with soft blue-grey Breton stripes offering a nautical style fisherman style twist, and a desert explorer colour palette going in a completely different direction.
Bi-sectional colour patching was complimented by oversized external seams on in a mix of dense and breezy fabrics. Cotton loops adorned hoods and seams for an extra touch of practicality. Simple, loose-fitting and comfortable looking, this collection is perfect for a rainy summer’s day in Britain, or perhaps even a sail around the Mediterranean.
