Party make-up inspiration

Party season is among us and while you might have already stomached your fair share of hangovers – or if your boss is reading this, late nights – the pinnacle of the period is yet to come: New Year’s Eve.

The perfect excuse to dress to the nines, NYE is one of the few times in the year when anything goes: sequins, mesh and tulle, nothing is too much. And while you may have the best outfit ready, do you have the makeup to match? Glam up with these glitzy looks!

Classic berry lips

It isn’t winter without some kind of berry lip, so why not done one during the peak of the period? Opt for a classic flick paired with a berry hue to embody the essence of sophistication and glamour.

Go for gold

Another classic, but a solid classic: gold. Universally flattering, you can’t go wrong with a golden shimmer across your lids to add allure. Paint your face gold to dress up any outfit, or suitably match your sequinned attire.

Paint it red

The ideal make-up item that, added to any look, can take you from day to night: the red lip. If you have pale skin, choose a shade with more orange hues, alternatively, the darker you are, the darker the red. After all, any make-up look Kim K does, we want to do too.

Pink to make the boys wink

If you’re looking to mix things up a bit this Christmas and stand out from the crowd, why not go for a pop of colour? Since Anastasia Beverly Hills released their Modern Renaissance palette, the fashion world has pretty much gone mad for pink-toned hues. Pair with a minimal outfit to really stand out.

 Glitter and glam

So eyeshadow might not be your forte, but that shouldn’t stop you having fun with your make-up! All you need for this look is a glowing base and a good eye primer. Use the pad of your finger or dip a flat brush into a pot of fine glitter in a shade of your choice – a neutral will work best – and push onto your eye lids for a minimal, but dazzling look.

Lively liner

Not for the faint-hearted, brightly coloured eye make-up was seen all over the SS18 catwalks. If you’d just like a hint of paint this festive season, then go for a coloured eyeliner. Choose a tone that will compliment your outfit and paint it across your lash line, pair with nude lips and glowing make-up for an effortless look.
