Kaia Gerber is collaborating with Karl Lagerfeld
You’ve probably heard of the name Kaia Gerber and if you haven’t, you’ll recognise her face. Quite often referred to as Cindy Crawford’s mini-me, the supermodel’s daughter is the biggest and newest face to modelling of 2017.
Since making her catwalk debut in September just days after turning 16, Gerber has already added some of the biggest names including Fendi, Chanel and Calvin Klein to her fashion CV. But now, with the help of Karl Lagerfeld, her repertoire is about to expand.
Despite still being aged 16, the breakout teen of SS18 is set to design a capsule collection for Lagerfeld’s eponymous line. It is reported by WWD that Cindy Crawford’s only daughter and doppelgänger will bring her signature West Coast casual style to a collaboration which will be amalgamated with Lagerfeld’s Parisian chic aesthetic.
The collection will hit stores in September consisting of ready-to-wear and accessories, such as footwear, sunglasses and jewellery and is sure to be documented to her 2.7 million followers on Instagram.
Despite only debuting on the catwalk when she was 16, Kaia has been in front of the lens since the age of 14, appearing as the face of Marc Jacobs Daisy. It seems like Lagerfeld has had his eyes on the teen for a while as CEO of Karl Lagerfeld, Pier Paolo Righi said, “When Karl first told us his idea to collaborate with Kaia, we were all excited by the incredible potential and power of bringing their two worlds together.”
Clearly, the relationship runs in the family as her supermodel mother, Cindy Crawford, was also one of Lagerfeld’s muses in the 90s. Gerber’s style is very similar to that of her mothers, similarly featuring an abundance of crop tops, leather trousers and vintage jeans. Fashion commentators are expecting to see these styles in the Karl x Kaia collection.
