Noor by Noor autumn/winter 2018 collection catwalk show for NYFW
For fall 2018 designers Shaikha Noor Rashid Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Mohamed Al Khalifa presented a beautiful and romantic to an audience that included influencers like Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo. They drew on their home country of Bahrain for the inspiration for their collection. They pulled together starry nights, delicate metallic feathers referencing the national bird, the Bulbul, and Arabic lettering saying “to the moon and back” to create a playful and pretty collection.
Metallic gold embellished fabrics featured prominently, particularly what appeared to be a chiffon that floated down the runway evoking those romantic starry nights. Bolder silhouettes in bright pink were also a strong feature in the collection.
The feminine colour adding balance to the more tailored shapes in the coats and pants. Black, navy, and a dash of neon yellow rounded out the collection’s colour scheme.
Separates created modern pieces with the appealing option to mix and match for a greater range of daily wear from the collection. This also gave the designers a chance to create interesting proportions such as a long pleated skirt layered under a shorter more form-fitting one. That created a look that felt fun and fresh for the runway but also felt like a look that could translate easily into the wardrobe of a fashion-forward woman today.
One of the standout pieces was the final look- floor-length cape dress in the black and gold that was truly a culmination of the collection. It was easy to picture wearing it under a starry night and is sure to be a must-have piece for the fans of Noon by Noor.
