The luxury footwear designer, Alexander White, entitled his autumn/winter 2018 collection, Disco Cowboy, with designs inspired by south America and from the famous Studio 54, transporting the vibrancy of New York across the Atlantic into Somerset House.
The British designer offers elegant, timeless pieces upon which he applies contemporary, playful silhouettes. This season, White created eye-catching garments using sequins, Swarovski crystals as well as a palette of metallic shades.
High heel sandals in bold pink and indigo were positioned on disco balls of different sizes, while mules in metallic orange were placed on life-sized cacti. The central part of the room was replaced by a sandpit, which alongside the oversized disco balls created an enchanting contrast between the two themes: a glamorous party in the Wild West. However, the luxury designer managed to translate this divergence into clean and sophisticated lines, through exploring new materials such as lurex and crepe silks.
The statement piece of the collection was the ankle boot set on a stiletto heel, with a detailed cowboy cut covered in Swarovski crystals. The glimmer of the shoes was accessorised with rhinestone drop earrings, while the model’s outfit consisted of a clean cut, short sleeved jumpsuit.
Another key look of the collection was composed of a similar jumpsuit in a hue of indigo with an elegant cut, and heeled sandals embellished with silver stars. The simplicity of the look encapsulated White’s mantra perfectly.
