Afffair spring/summer 2019 collection catwalk show for NYFW

Rufat Ismayil, designer of Afffair, showcased his Spring/Summer 2019 collection Power of Fire at New York Fashion Week, paying homage to his country. Each piece followed the theme and created the sensation of a Land of Fire.

Gems, textured pieces, silk – and lots of it – fit Ismayil’s theme: “Fashion Beyond Continents, Power of Fire from the Land of Fire.” Each model’s power was fiercely portrayed with careful attention to detail – there were several pieces with the torso revealed to signify power.

Embellishments were used for a modernised look and the contrasts of black and gold created more of a mysterious effect.

Some of the crowd favourites were designs with emerald and denim, however the most unique portion of the garment/s seemed to be the shoulders, which were padded with jewels, with asymmetrical lines often beginning at the shoulders and reaching down to the ankles.

All of the pieces embodied a sense of authority, luxury and power as each model seemed to have a diverse outlook and appearance. Each of them used their fierce walk to entice the audience and bring the elements of Ismayil’s vision to life. The designer says, “be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire,” which was fairly portrayed from start to finish.
