Christopher Lowman presented his sporty line to a crowd of trendy influencers at the exclusive bar Jimmy at the Jane. Though the weather may have dampened the rooftop it certainly didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the viewers.
The line to attend the presentation snaked out onto the rainy pavement but as guests exited the lift into the event space a small brass band played the national anthem to welcome them.
Models on elevated platforms wore sportswear in a red, white and blue colour scheme inspired by various athletic pursuits. Some of the garments were literal sports jerseys while others were more of a reference to the items that players would wear off the field to represent their country like colour-coordinated blazers. The collection also included a few “off duty” style garments like a leather biker jacket spray-painted with the letters “USA” and t-shirts with photos of athletes.
The collection trod the line between athleisure and more contemporary tailored ready-to-wear which has been the designer’s trademark. While young, Lowman has focused on the classics of design. From his start four years ago, he has created luxury menswear with an emphasis on high-end fabrics and tailoring.
To make something all his own, Lowman has taken his experience in tailoring and added it to the way that young professionals dress – mixing and matching workwear and everyday casual apparel. This collection is likely to resonate with many of fashion-forward shoppers in New York.
