Osman’s SS19 collection took us on a journey through a secret garden – quite literally. The lush setting in which it was showcased linked back to the Osman woman represented in the designs: full of wanderlust with a desire for escapism, whilst maintaining a headstrong certainty of herself.
Sophisticated silhouettes and cuts were executed through the exuberant layers and ruffles that peeped through tailored blazers cinched in for a bold hourglass figure and created volume in dress sleeves.
In a refreshing twist, Osman challenged the old fashion adage that black is for autumn/winter and not a spring/summer collection. Proving that the colour never loses it timelessness or impacts, the choice emphasised flattering cuts and added a sense of drama and power. In one solid black dress, sequined flames burned incandescently across the shoulders like wildfire.
In contrast, the brightness and joy of other gowns in full bloom gave an eclectic character to the feminine collection. Quirky aesthetics were seen in a standout zebra print trouser suit. Another call to the wild was shown in a cockerel feather jacket. Each animalistic quality was somehow subtle enough so as to not detract from the overarching elegance of the collection, demonstrating Osman’s craft and ability to dress the female figure.
