Danshan autumn/winter 2019 collection presentation for LFWM
A thoughtful, fresh take on menswear, Danshan’s autumn/winter collection offered a certain tenderness.
Satin button-up blouses in earthy hues of oyster, khaki and slate draped fluidly from the physique in a manner that echoed a soft femininity. Every now and then, collars would be supersized for added exaggeration and expression. The sensation of softer fabrics and silhouettes was juxtaposed with a more brazen shiny black PVC, which made up a biker jacket and trousers. The clashing of softness and hardness seemed to play on the tropes of masculine wear.
Complementing the use of illustrious fabrics were colour-neutral pieces such as cotton chino shorts and corduroy trousers. Outerwear tended to be light as a feather; trench coats were soft with waterfall collars, emphasising the relaxed silhouettes outlined throughout the collection.
A study of soft movements and nuances was evident in these designs; Danshan’s collection diffused a desire for tenderness and fluidity and was a strong interpretation of the emotion society has dictated that we detach from masculinity. Overall, the underlying message was clear: embrace and express your masculinity in any which way you desire.
