While autumn/winter 2019 incorporated signature elements, such as embellished knitwear and pleated skirts, this collection undoubtedly reflected a more reserved approach than previous seasons. Remember SS19’s sequin-smothered dresses and the punchy animal motifs from SS18?
It is a conscious shift for the designer, who explained, “This season marks a new chapter, one that balances innovation with continuity, and strong references to the brand’s roots.”
This mature sense of elegance was presented through mammoth wool coats, floral dresses and chunky layers formed from block colours of pillar box red, black and cream. Leopard-printed separates were also scattered around, often complemented by oversized trapper hats and mittens, ensuring style and comfort in equal measure.
Even though practically ruled over glamour and playfulness this time, the end result was certainly no less impressive.
