Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey to collaborate on mental health documentary
Earlier this month, it was announced the Duke of Sussex and media superstar and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey are teaming up to create a documentary on the subject of mental health. The multi-part series will aim to eradicate the stigma around mental illness whilst showing those currently suffering they are not alone.
The decision to work together on the new Apple TV+ series was born from a conversation between the pair, during which Oprah asked Harry his opinion of the most important issues currently affecting our world. As Harry responded with both climate change and mental wellness, Oprah shared the details of her upcoming project for which the two are now co-creators.
Their hope for the series is to not only inform and educate the masses but to equip those who suffer from mental health issues with the tools to speak out and discover the resources available to them. This is something Harry has previously spoken about while discussing his own struggles and how the ability to talk through issues aided him greatly.
In 2016, Harry launched the Heads Together campaign with his brother and sister-in-law. This is a charity created to help people with their everyday mental health struggles. The organisation also serves to support a number of mental health programmes across the UK.
Now after many meetings between Harry and Oprah in both London and the US, it seems production on the series is well under way. We can expect to see it streaming on the new Apple TV+ in 2020.
