How the marble design trend is taking over 2019
Marble has been used in the art and design world for thousands and thousands of years, so much so that it dates back to the early Egyptian cultures. The stone material was even used to construct famous architectural projects like the Taj Mahal and the Pantheon, among other popular structures that you may know of. That’s not where the marble legacy ends, though.
In recent years, the snow white and spotless stone has made its way around the world. Marble’s main prerogative is showcasing its features through that of kitchen and bathroom countertops, but the past five or so years have changed that dynamic for the better.
Generally speaking, marble is a breathtaking material that brings forward an elegant taste and fashion sense; that’s probably why the material has made its way into furniture, lighting, accessories, tabletops, stationery supplies, and even fashion, but we’ll get to those details throughout the remainder of this article.
Are you ready to read about how the marble design trend is spreading across the globe? Do you want to know where the trend is headed for the remainder of 2019? Good, we do, too. Let’s get started!
Marble… What is it in?
That is such a simple yet complex question. What is marble in?
Well, marble is extremely versatile, for starters. As mentioned above, the marble-look can be incorporated into furnishings, lighting, accessories, tabletops, stationery supplies, and fashion (the list can go on and on, but we’ll cut it to that). It can adapt to metal, leather, paper, fabric, and vinyl, just to name a few materials. The list of specifics regarding the trend can cover pages of examples, and we’ll briefly talk about that later.
When you think of marble, and when you think of what it could potentially be in, your mind probably doesn’t wander to all of these options. Like fashion, for instance; marble-printed clothes are rising in the charts, above the leopard and chevron trends. Maybe it’s safe to say the minimalist approach to fashion is the new look, but whatever the reason may be, people are going with it.
It’s time to tackle the specifics!
Specifically speaking: Where can you find marble trends?
Kitchen and bathroom countertops have a range of options to choose from, including granite, quartz, marble, limestone, wood, and stainless steel. Marble is one of the more popular selections for this area of the home. Besides interior design, though, where can marble trends be found today?
Everywhere.
Marble clothing is a thing. Kitchen and home appliances are adopting the marble pattern. Dinner plates and coffee mugs are being sold with different marble prints. Bedding and window curtains are becoming popular with the marble look added to them. Even sportswear, accessories, and stationary packages can pull off the marble trend! It’s legitimately everywhere.
Here’s a list of additional items that sport the marble print:
– Packaging Supplies
– Chairs
– Stationery Supplies
– Bracelet
– Clutch
– Jewellery
– Coffee Tables
– Sheets
– Candles
– Technology
– Yoga Pants
– Web Design
– Templates
What are the most popular items in the marble trend?
There is a wide selection of items you can acquire with the marble print present on them. However, there are specific items that are flying off the shelves quicker than others.
The marble skirt
Skirts have always been a part of the fashion world, especially when it comes to business attire. Over the past few years, however, skirts have shifted design patterns; they no longer want to be solid colours, and that’s a good thing! Instead, fashion designers are picking patterns with a little extra oomph, like marble.
Pair a marble skirt with a sophisticated black shirt and boots or booties to tie your business look together. If you’d like our input and recommendation, make the black shirt solid in colour. Flare can be present, but once you start throwing a bunch of colours into the mix, it may take away from the marble aesthetic.
The marble shoes
Shoes have been up and coming in the past few years, especially where marble’s concerned. These stylistic and trendy heels, flats, and sandals are a perfect add-on to an already classy business look.
Be sure to avoid clashes; do not add marble shoes to an outfit that already has a marble skirt or shirt in the mix. Marble accessories are an exception.
The marble phone case
Oh, the marble phone case, how it’s flooded social media outlets like Instagram and Facebook by force. This handy-dandy protective covering reassures you that if you drop your phone, the damage won’t be significant.
And when we say that the phone has flooded social media outlets, we mean marketing strategies have been implemented for customers to purchase the case, but that’s not all. Users on Instagram and Facebook have also been drawing attention to the crafted item by posting all about it.
The marble leggings
Black leggings are simple yet sleek. But some are slowly getting rid of their black legging obsession to transition they’re focus to something with a little bit of contrasting detail. That’s where the marble leggings come in.
This alternative to jeans and dress pants is sweeping the nation. Not only are they eye-catching “pants”, but they’re also super comfy and affordable.
The marble cake
We had to throw a funny in the mix! Marble cake is delicious, but we wouldn’t necessarily say it’s becoming a trend.
Fashion tip: Marble material already draws attention to the clothing item it’s present on. With that being said, try not to overdo the outfit with additional patterns and elements. Stick to simple add ons; small accessories can help make the marble pop, just be sure to stay away from items that “overkill”.
Where has marble been and where is it going?
Marble has been around for centuries, and many designers in graphics, interiors, web, fashion, print, and product are bringing it back. If the last five years has taught us anything, it’s that the marble design idea has expanded well beyond kitchen and bathroom countertops.
For a brief timeline regarding the evolution of marble, check out our bolded list below:
In 2008, the first design expansion idea about marble was brought to the fashion world.
In 2013, the idea of marble hit the fashion world hardcore, including everything from metal to leather, from paper to fabric, and from vinyl to furniture.
In 2014, an explosion of marble hit markets nationwide.
In 2017, everyone became obsessed with the marble trend. Stores and companies from all over started to produce marble-induced product ideas.
In 2018, Europe became obsessed with the stone print.
In 2019, the trend is still not dying. If anything, it’s here to stay.
We cannot be certain what the future holds for this perfect print, but for now, we can assure you that it’s still climbing up the ladder.
