Matty Bovan spring/summer 2020 collection catwalk show for LFW
In Matty Bovan’s SS20 collection, the practical, clinical worker’s uniform is transformed through the decorative power of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Standard-issue outfits such as hospital scrubs have been created anew using the intense palette of William Morris, the nurse’s tunic unzipping to reveal more garments beneath.
In this hybrid collection, the uninspiring silhouettes of workwear are combined with art Noveau ornamentalism to lift them into a new dimension, and eras collide as Victorian puff-sleeved jackets are redesigned with the health and safety colours of construction workers. This truly imaginative offering reimagines the regulation fashion often seen in the world of work, turning it into something asymmetrical, daring and flamboyant.
