Where to get the best deals this Black Friday
With the ever-expanding commercial extravaganza that is Black Friday looming large at the end of this month, it’s worth having an early look at shops that might be worth your time. After keeping our eye on some of the top gadgets which are likely to be on sale and the best-stocked sites for seasonal savings, we’ve rounded up our results to spare you a bit of browsing time.
Amazon
We are expecting great things from Amazon this year. In particular, given their history, we predict some big reductions on their own branded products such as the Dot, Fire and Kindle.
Despite the fact that the Echo Show 5 was only introduced back in May, Amazon have a new and improved model coming out this month, and in keeping with the company’s penchant for discounted prices, in the US they are offering a deal before the product has even launched – which gives us high hopes for similar savings. The latest model is an upgrade on their touchscreen-equipped smart speakers, boasting a larger 8-inch HD display, perfect for viewing cooking videos in the kitchen this festive season. The device is released on the 21st November, in plenty of time for Christmas, but it’s worth holding out just in case.
John Lewis
This retail giant have become legendary since their stream of Christmas ads, the latest of which has just been released. But though they are renowned for quality, they aren’t so big on cut prices, which means that Black Friday is set to be all the more advantageous for lovers of luxury.
John Lewis featured great smartphone deals last year, even on the iPhone XS and XR and the Galaxy S9, which were relatively new models. These are phones capable of playing the most advanced apps and games, including the likes of FIFA20. This makes us very hopeful that we might see great Apple and Samsung deals this year too, with older models set to get an even bigger reduction. In terms of electronics, given last year’s deal on the Dell Inspiron, we are crossing our fingers for more discounts on leading laptop brands such as Dell, HP and Lenovo.
When it comes to home appliances, we think your best bet is with coffee machines (Tassimo and Bosch were featured last year) and Dyson vacuums. We also anticipate savings on Le Creusot kitchenware, both pan and dish ranges. It’s worth noting, also, that both John Lewis and Currys PC World will price-match their competitor’s best deals.
Argos
It seems Argos continues to be the place to go if you are buying for kids. They have already launched their Crazy Code toy deals, releasing a new voucher code every week for ten weeks with discounts on selected leading brands, from Paw Patrol to Meccano.
Last year, the retailer said that Black Friday was its “biggest day ever for video gaming”, so also expect deals in this area. We are hoping for some PS4 Pro bundles, especially for Fortnite and Fifa, and there’s also a good chance that the VR headset will be reduced after last year’s deal.
