NZ Games Festival 2020: Event overview
The NZ Games Festival 2020 is six months away, but people have already started to prepare for the big event. The event, which is scheduled to commence on 20th and end on 26th April 2020, is going to be one of its kind. This non-profit event is organised by gamers, and developers are held annually to celebrate and promote Australian and New Zealand games.
The events that will be available incorporate Level Up, Play by Play and The Pavs. These events are divided into three groups for gamers, developers, and kids’ activities. Our article covers the values of the NZ Games Festival and some of the things you can do at the festival.
Values of NZ Games Festival
Did you know that NZ Games Festival started way back in 2016 as Play by Play? Today, the group covers different brands, such as Play by Play, Level Up, and Pavs. Some of the guiding values of the upcoming 2020 event include:
- To offer accessible education and more learning opportunities to individuals and families from across the world about offline and online gaming.
- To provide support and celebrate our home-made free and real money games in New Zealand, as well as for our Australian friends and colleagues.
- To promote our games and play all available variations in a more conducive way.
What to do at the Festival?
As stated early, there will be dozens of events to do in that week, and they are divided into three categories. Some of the activities include but not limited to:
- 2020 Level Up Exhibition
This will involve celebrating the best games from NZ and Australia in the ending year. It is a great opportunity for people from other places to learn about what NZ developers do in the industry. There will be finalist games from the Pavs awards offered to visitors to play for free throughout the event. The best part is that this show is free for all to attend.
- 2020 Play by Play Conference
It is one of the best conferences in the NZ Games Festival, where an active group of gamers, enthusiasts, and many other people come together. The 2020 Play by Play will be held for two full days where you can learn and network with world-class developers. It will be held from Friday 24th April to Saturday 25th April from 10am–4.30pm in TBA, Wellington.
- Kids Workshops
It is our duty to see those future game developers are well nurtured from an early age. The Level Up and Capital E will offer a program that will introduce local kids to different approaches used in game development such as programming, design, concept creation, and more. There will be local industry gamers to share knowledge and skills to the young generation.
- The Pavs
The NZ Games Festival runs The Pavs as a way to appreciate the efforts of the ANZ’s game developers, ranging from digital to tabletop. The exciting part is the finalist competition and awarding of the trophies to the best performers.
This is always the best moment to network with the best from the industry. Some of the awards categories include The Guest Plate, The Student’s Slice, and The Slice of Heaven’s Grand Prize, among many others.
Conclusion
The dates have already been marked for the NZ Games Festival 2020 event. This is going to be the fifth event since its establishment in 2016. The organizers and planners have already hinted about some of the activities that will be taking place throughout the week.
Since there is no age restriction, this will be the best place you can take your family to learn and explore more about gaming and development in New Zealand and Australia.
