Five most anticipated smartphones of 2020
2019 saw a lot of technological innovations and breakthroughs across the spectrum, and none more so than in the smartphone industry. Smartphone manufacturers like Apple, Samsung and OnePlus are once again expected, as always, to outdo themselves and bring us some of the most exciting smartphones and accessories in 2020. In this article, we are going to take a look at some of the most highly anticipated smartphones to come our way in 2020.
Before we get to the list, it is worth mentioning that at the end of the day, a ranking of smartphones cannot be applied to all. Different people have different needs and different budgets, and what could be the best smartphone for one, may not be the best for someone else. Someone that prioritizes photography may value a different phone more than someone that is looking solely at processing power, for example. Therefore, it really comes down to what you are going to use your Android or iOS device for. The applications range from business activities like spreadsheets and task management, leisure activities like photo taking and manipulation, communication in all its forms and entertainment in the form of games.
Having said that, let’s get started.
Samsung Galaxy S20
2019 was the birthyear of the Samsung Galaxy S10 variants. The Samsung Galaxy S range is the company’s flagship series at this time, but the flagship throne is now taken over by Samsung’s new line.
Understandably, we would have expected Samsung to call their new Galaxy series the Samsung Galaxy S11, however, that is not going to be the case. Inspired by the new decade, Samsung have named their new Galaxy series, Galaxy S20.
As with the Galaxy S10 range, the S20 range has three variants as well. The most incredible specs are to do with the camera: the Ultra model has a staggering 108MP wide camera (26mm), as well as a 48MP one (102mm), a 12MP (13mm) one and also a 0.3MP (Time-of-Flight) which allow for a state-of-the-art 100x zoom.
The phones will be available in Europe from 13th March.
iPhone 12
The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 pro saw Apple taking back the best smartphone camera in 2019, a title they had lost to higher end Android phones in prior years. Another huge upgrade came in the form of battery life, these phones last a really long time. However, the pricing was heavy enough to lift eyebrows all over.
The world awaits what Apple will unveil this year for the iPhone 12. Apple is also expected to launch other phones simultaneously such as a successor to the iPhone SE. The new iPhone SE is going to be their budget phone for 2020.
Motorola Razr
The Moto Razr is back by popular demand. When it comes to flip phones, they aren’t many phones that are as iconic as the Razr. Unlike the other foldable phones that are set to launch in 2020, the Razr is not going to be as bulky. More than the features, the Razr is all about the looks and style. It is sleek, foldable and sexy.
Motorola have pushed the release date back once already and now the pressure is on to deliver on time. Motorola Razr is surely one of the most anticipated smartphones to be launched this year. The new rendition of this truly memorable handset is back nearly 15 years after its predecessor. When it comes to design, very few phones in recent years have been brave enough to be so unique and against the tides of what most smartphones look like these days.
One of the key differences between the all new Motorola Razr and the one from 15 years ago is that unlike the old one, the new phone totally lacks a crease where the phone would essentially fold into half. When the phone is open, and you are looking at the screen, you would not even be able to tell that the phone can fold.
Google Pixel 4a
If the leaks are to be believed, the Google Pixel 4a is going to pack all the goodness of the Google Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4XL plus a lot more wow factor. A punch hole front selfie camera is expected, and like the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4XL, the Pixel 4a will feature a square camera module at the back. The fingerprint sensor too is expected to be placed on the back of the phone.
Being a budget model, the Pixel 4a is going to come at a remarkable lower price. However, it is not clear as to what Google will compromise on in order to make the phone budget friendly.
Xiaomi Mi Note 10
The Mi Note 10 is set to be the best Xiaomi has to offer in 2020 and it is also expected to be their most expensive phone till date. This phone is going to rock a Penta-camera setup that will comprise of a 108 megapixel primary camera, a 20 mega pixel ultra–wide-angle camera, a 12 mega pixel telephone sensor, a 5 mega pixel telephoto sensor and 2 mega pixel macro camera. Could this be the best smartphone in terms of the camera? We will have to wait and see.
