Alternative nights out in London this winter: From darts to cross over to the dark side
The capital and the largest city of the United Kingdom and, arguably, one of the most tourist-attracting city in Europe, London is an unbelievable place to visit. Being such a large city, there is nothing short of things to do both during the day and at night. But, for those that desire something unique, this list could prove the inspiration you need.
Pitch London
Eat your heart out Tiger Woods; whether a golfing fan or generic sporting enthusiast, Pitch London has it all. A pitch-and-putt 18-hole course, golf darts and interactive courses along the way, Bishopgate’s three-floor venue can attract those that have never played before, intermediates and even those that consider themselves to be regular golfers.
Competitive socialising is in abundance as food, a brand-new bar and even a regular DJ gives customers a completely different experience to anything else they have tried before.
The Bat and Ball
The name says it all: The Bat and Ball sports a mass of 18 ping pong tables as nights out will never be the same once you have visited this entertainment deluxe in Stratford. Two bars, a deli, a pizzeria and even activities such as beer pong and karaoke are open on a typical night out, meaning you don’t have to leave for food or good music.
There’s no surprise that The Bat and Ball is, therefore, not only Westfield’s largest bar, but has also earned the nickname the Games Hall.
Flight Club
Whilst the 1999 film Fight Club had just one rule – that no one talked about Fight Club – London’s Flight Club is being talked about – and for all the right reasons. A premium, luxury darts experience may never have been thought realistic decades ago, but technology and superb interior design have made the once-pub game into a sporting extravaganza.
Real-time scoring, alongside animated features and smooth interfaces brings darts well and truly into the 21st century. With plenty of drinks on offer too, Flight Club is a must-see – just like the film.
Paranormal Activity Tour
For those keen to scare the living daylights out of themselves, the Paranormal Activity Tour is a surefire way to succeed. The dark side of London still needs to be discovered with the city’s largest execution site as well as abandoned jails that have seen some of the most harrowing killers in the country stay there available for visits. Probably not one for the faint-hearted, but definitely one for those that wish to uncover London’s gruesome past.
