Is there anyone who hasn’t heard any of the Marvel movies? How can even one not know about the Marvel cinematic universe, considering nearly most of them are a worldwide hit?
So far, the Avengers franchise of the MCU has been rocking the world but it came to an end last year with its final movie Endgame which earned a whopping 2.79 billion worldwide.
Sure MCU is working its butt off to bring us more pictures. Some of the Upcoming Marvel movies including Black Widow, Venom 2, Morbius, Black Panther 2 and a few others. Let’s wait and watch if they can dethrone Endgame or not. Anyways, for now, let’s jog down the memory lane and take a look at some of the best Marvel movies till date.
Here are the Best Marvel Movies of all time (with spoilers)
Iron Man (2008)
This is where everything started, 2008. Iron Man is the first movie one needs to watch if they’re on the Avengers marathon.
The entire movie revolves around Tony Stark getting captured by a terrorist group in Afghanistan and develops the first Armor suit from scratch to run away. After returning back he designs an even more powerful suit and dons it to save a village.
Meanwhile, Stark’s business partner Obadiah Stane who is shown as the antagonist gets his hands on the destroyed Mark I through the help of ten rings and sets to improve it and destroy Tony but gets himself killed in the end.
Watching Iron man completely changed my opinion of the superheroes, and everything felt too believable. The entire film grossed $585 million worldwide and was a big “woah” the entire time
The Avengers (2012)
Towards the end of Iron Man, you can see Fury talking with Tony about the Avengers initiative, this movie is exactly that. Nick Fury puts together the Avengers initiative to defend against Asgardian Loki, who with his army of the extraterrestrial “Chitauri” invades earth to steal the Tesseract.
In this movie, we see plenty of internal problems between the Avengers – especially between Captain and Stark – and later on, between Thor and the Hulk. But by the end they pull things together and answer Loki with a smack and hammer (literally).
The final fight in Avengers is simply amazing. Especially the Hulk beating up Loki part. Avengers 2012 had a worldwide box office gross of 1.5 billion and became the third-highest selling movie of all the time.
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
The story starts with Peter Quill a.k.a Star-Lord, who manages to get his hands on the orb containing the Power Stone, which he totally shouldn’t have. He is attacked by Ronans’ militia and gets his nuts broken by Gamora who happens to be looking for the orb. Both Gamora and Quill are arrested and thrown into the slammer where they meet Rocket, Groot, Drax. All five together decide to sell the orb but are overwhelmed by Ronans’ army (which a drunken Drax calls).
The Orb falls into the hands of Ronan and he sets out to destroy Xander, but Quill and his gang along with the Nova corps fight Ronan and defeat him. During the fight, Groot uses his body to protect his gang from the crashing spaceship. Guardians of Galaxy earned a total of $772 million across the world – clearly due to Groot.
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
The civil war in comics was fought on a huge scale, but in the movie, it was like a brawl downtown, they did introduce a few superheroes like Black Panther and Spiderman.
The story revolves around good old Bucky. Our gang had its hands full with Brock Rumlow, the ex- S.H.I.E.L.D. officer and full-time Hydra soldier who happens to be carrying a powerful biological weapon.
He tries to blow himself up in an attempt to kill Cap’n but Wanda uses her mojo to divert it but ends up blowing a few Wakandan humanitarian workers in the nearby building. Later in Vienna, a bomb explodes during a meeting and kills the Wakandan King T’Chaka. So T’Challa, his son, swears revenge on Bucky who is the alleged culprit.
It would take a long time to explain. In short, one team led by Cap’n thinks that Bucky is innocent while the other led by Stark doesn’t believe so. Civil war earned a whooping 1.1 billion worldwide.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
People wondered where the hell Thor and Hulk were in the Civil war. But they just had their own troubles. In the realm of the fire demon Surtur. Thor comes to know that Odin is no longer on Asgard and that Ragnarok will happen soon.
Thor returns back home and finds Loki on the throne (posing as Odin). After smacking Loki a bit, they search for their father, and with the help of Dr Strange, they locate Odin in Norway. Where Odin tells that he’s dying and that it’ll free his firstborn child Hela who shall lead the Ragnarok. As Odin dies, Hela appears and during a brief fight, Hela destroys Mjolnir and throws them out of Bifrost when they try escaping.
Later Thor and Loki find themselves on the garbage planet Sakaar where Thor is sold as a slave in the gladiator arena and is forced to fight in the arena, he faces off Hulk in his first fight, Thor manages to bring back Banner and they escape Sakaar with Valkyrie.
Thor with his new haircut and different weapons faces down on Hela and her army. As good as the movie was, it earned 854 million worldwide, which fell slightly below expectations.
Black Panther (2018)
Black Panther made quite a buzz in the civil war, and fans were genuinely pleased when MCU decided to make movie of it. The movie revolves around the Wakandan history and T’Challa becoming the Wakandan King to chasing after the illegal arms dealer Ulysses Klaue who had stolen Vibranium and was developing weapons of mass destruction.
T’Challa nearly captures Klaue but is saved by Killmonger who later kills Klaue and takes his body to Wakanda and later on reveals his identity as N’Jadaka and challenges the throne. T’Challa is defeated and hurled over the waterfall. Later on, Nakia extracts the Heart- shaped herb and brings back T’Challa.
Later on T’Challa with W’kabi and his army storm to take back the Wakanda. During the final fight, Killmonger is killed but makes a pretty strong impression on everyone. Black Panther totally broke the record set by Avenger (2012) and earned a total gross of $1.3 billion worldwide.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Endgame is the ending of the massive story which started ten years ago. Endgame is simply too engrossing and can make you feel everything at the same time.
The five-year time skip after Thanos’s snap made it more real, showed how strong they were as a family. Thor gets a beer belly due to depression, while Bruce and Hulk underwent gamma lab chilling and finally became one entity (Smart Hulk).
When Antman came back from the Quantum Realm, he gave others a solution and hope, even though they’re emotionally broken, they reunite and plan to bring everyone back by getting stones back after Thanos destroyed stones (yeah shocking).
The time travel concept was a bit complicated to understand. But they succeed in jumping through time and collecting all the stones. They brought back all the people who disappeared at a heavy price but also defeated Thanos (finally).
