Best shoes to wear on vacation
Choosing which shoes to bring on vacation can be tough. What kind of vacation is it? Will there be walking around all day or just relaxing on the beach? Will it be hot or cold? Having an answer to these questions can help determine which shoes would be the best for a vacation.
Destinations
Beach
For those going to the beach for a vacation, it won’t be necessary to pack too many different pairs of shoes. The best pairs of shoes to have on the beach are some kind of sandal, like a slide or a flip flop. Wearing sandals is great because they are quick and easy to put on. It’s also possible to wear them when feet are still wet and they are easy to rinse off if they get sandy. Since beaches and pool areas can be crowded, try bringing a bright pair of shoes, maybe red slides that will stand out among the other shoes in the area.
Even if not all of the time is going to be spent on the beach but things are relatively close by, sandals will still be fine on the feet. Sandals aren’t always the most comfortable, so be sure to invest in a nicer pair. Comfort is worth it.
Nature
Those who enjoy traveling to different national parks or going hiking while on vacation, it’s best to pack a few different shoes. Depending on the place and the degree of difficulty of the hikes will determine which shoes should be worn. If it’s just walking around a forest or in a park, a nice pair of sneakers will do just the trick. However, those who are a bit more adventurous, such as climbing mountains, then a sturdier shoe will be necessary. Bringing a hiking boot is great for these kinds of activities, as they protect from the elements and give the support and grip the foot needs.
Bringing more than one pair of sneakers or boots is recommended for a trip like this. Having a backup pair is always a good idea in case one pair gets wet or damaged.
City
When travelling to a city, there are more options of which shoes to wear since there are more things to do. In this scenario, bring two pairs: one for walking around and the other for more relaxing activities, like watching a show or going out to eat. Again, it depends on the city and how much sightseeing will be done, so be sure to keep that in mind when planning.
Do’s and don’ts
Remember when packing, try to consolidate and keep things light, especially if when flying. Shoes weigh a lot, so only packing one or two pairs could save paying any kind of overweight baggage fee. No one wants to be lugging a heavy suitcase around either, so it’s also helpful in that sense.
Do be realistic. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of a vacation, but review the itinerary before (or while) packing. This way it’s possible to plan outfits and shoes accordingly.
Remember, vacations are all about having fun and taking a break. Don’t stress out by worrying about what to pack. To make things easier, do make a packing list to make things easier and breeze through packing. Most importantly, enjoy yourself!
