Vikings: Is the game as good as the TV show?

It may come as a surprise to hear that Vikings first hit our screens in 2013. Since its release, it’s gone on to become a longstanding show, adored by fans across the globe. But that’s not all, it can now be enjoyed on our computer screens.

It has also been crafted into an online game, featuring all of the key characters: Bjorn, Floki, Ragnar and Lagertha.

As the name suggests, this historical drama is based on real-life Viking tribes, commanded by the acclaimed Norse hero, Ragnar Lothbrok.

In this gripping TV show, Bjorn Ironside has many aspirations for the Kingdom of Kattegat, comprising ambitions of peace and success. Unfortunately, the fates have alternative plans for the new king in the shape of a grievous threat – Bjorn must face a resurgent, ruthless enemy head-on to turn his dreams into a reality.

Another of the key characters, Lagertha, has similar aspirations to lay her sword to rest and return to the peaceful life she once enjoyed. To combat the enemy forces, both Lagertha and Bjorn must join forces, rising to the challenge in true Viking fashion. Why? Because Vikings never surrender!

All in all, this prevalent show attracted an incredible 5 million P2P viewers in Season 1 alone, and it’s still going strong! Boasting a similar style to Game of Thrones, both the story and plot are well laid out, however, it’s the plot’s visionary depth that makes it one of TV’s most watchable shows to date.

The latest series, Series 6, was released in 2020 and comprises a total of 20 episodes. This is, unfortunately, the last series, but by no means due to popularity. Director Michael Hirst always planned to bring it to an end at this point. Thankfully Viking fans still have the slot game to enjoy!
