Binge-worthy shows to watch on Netflix
It’s no secret that we’re spoiled for choice when watching TV. With streaming services like Netflix taking over, it’s easy for anyone to find something they’re interested in seeing, no matter what genre. While this is an incredible feat, the sheer amount of choice is often so overwhelming, one ends up spending hours stuck browsing the massive collection on the platform. To save viewers the trouble of a long search, here’s a list of four binge-worthy TV shows on Netflix that are not to be missed.
Kakegurui
Even for those who aren’t big fans of anime, Kakagurui is a show anyone can appreciate. The story centres on Yumeko Jabami, a girl who attends an academy where the students are graded based on their gambling skills. This interesting premise makes for some pretty wild storytelling, and people worldwide, especially Canadians, seem to be loving it! A big part of Kakegurui’s popularity is undoubtedly the recent trend of games.
With online games soaring in popularity, it’s no wonder people are on the lookout for the best of any kind – worldwide, from the UK to Turkey to online casinos in Canada, players are flocking to watch this entertaining show. Like many of the themed games online, Kakagurui is full of top-quality visuals, exciting gameplay and new concepts. It’s an industry that isn’t afraid to take things to the next level and give its viewers something to gush over.
Jessica Jones
Superhero TV is all everywhere at the moment. After the massive success of the Marvel movie franchise, a heap of lesser-known superheroes got the spotlight in their own TV series. One of these characters is the criminally underrated Jessica Jones. Working as a private detective after a failed superhero career, the show follows Jessica as she deals with cases that always end up biting her in the butt. The narrative strays far from what viewers are used to from superhero flicks, which is what makes it so good. It’s not afraid to deal with some serious and dark themes that are explored throughout the seasons.
The Good Place
The Good Place is without a doubt one of the best comedy series Netflix users have been treated to in the past decade. The show has a great cast, a great premise, and twists and turns that take the comedy aspect to a new level. As expected from a show with top-tier humour that anyone can appreciate, The Good Place bagged quite a few awards during its run, and even managed to be nominated for a staggering 13 Emmy awards (although it won none)!
It’s hard to explain anything about The Good Place without spoiling it, but to keep it very short, in essence, the show follows Eleanor Shellstrop, a woman that finds herself in heaven after an accident. The thing is, Eleanor was a very, very bad person in life, so she’s convinced she was sent there by mistake!
The Haunting of Hill House
For fan of horror, this is the perfect show. The Haunting of Hill House is a mini-series that revolves around a troubled family with a haunted family home. The show switches timelines often, showing the characters as both kids and adults as they navigate their lives while dealing with the death of a sibling and the ghosts from the past that pester them. It’s a bit of a slow build, but the epic reveals, hidden ghosts, and terrifying moments in the show are 100% worth a midnight binge.
